Retailers Increasing Predictive Analytics Capabilities – Robert Hetu

y 2012 research about changing the face and use of analytics in retail reported that less than 15% of large retailers were using predictive analytics. Hopefully we are seeing growth in adoption of advanced analytics in retail.  While admittedly a non-scientifically developed poll, retailers at Gartner’s 2015 IT Symposium and Expo in Orlando indicated forward progress along the advanced analytic path.  Thirty-three percent of the retailers that participated in the poll say they are using predictive analytics to drive business decisions. Also encouraging, only 13% claim to be still in the descriptive phase. The chart below recaps the 2015 findings and the 2012 research:
